Curtain Call opens as a beacon for creativity and culture;
a blank canvas art gallery and exhibition space fortifying the vibrancy of artist expression synonymous with Shoreditch,
about
In revitalising this dormant space at 118 Curtain Road, Curtain Call injects fresh vitality into Shoreditch, enriching its artistic community and adding another dynamic layer to its cultural landscape.
Curtain Call stands as a testament to Shoreditch's enduring innovation, embodying the limitless potentials born from the intersection of grit, creativity, culture and curiosity.
We pride ourselves on our alignment with the objectives of the Arts and Cultural Strategy and Local Plan guidance which sets out a vision of Shoreditch as a “space for artists, craftspeople and cultural producers” and promotes the “use of vacant units in highly accessible areas and town centre locations for arts related activities”. The emerging Future Shoreditch Area Action Plan (AAP) also supports the diversification of the evening and night time economy and the introduction of new arts, culture and entertainment uses in the area from day to night. Curtain Call will bring cultural and diverse programming to Shoreditch, in line with the objectives of the Plan.
We would like to promote diversity in the area inviting visitors of all ages and backgrounds, in turn making the local area safer. Curtain Call is a positive cultural addition and we intend to boost the local economy and visitors to other local attractions.
These new premises will celebrate Shoreditch as the birthplace of an entire subculture,
and in turn enable young people to be inspired by the art.
